Mojo Burning returns with massive lineup for fifth anniversary

It’s a boutique guitar festival like no other, well and truly earning its catch-phrase of being “all killer, no filler”.

Brought to us by the same creative minds behind Mo’s Desert Clubhouse, this year’s Mojo Burning lineup will impress fans of rock when it rolls into Brisbane’s Hamilton Hotel on 14 April.

Wolfmother headline the bill with Jeff Martin, Henry Wagons, Hat Fitz & Cara, Money for Rope, Child and Hobo Magic also on the lineup.

The festival, which celebrates its fifth anniversary this year, has a solid history of throwing its weight behind Australia’s underground blues, rock, roots and stoner rock scenes and it’s gone one step further this year dedicating a room solely to psych and stoner rock complete with venue-wide visuals, live art installations and a VIP lounge at the Hamilton Hotel.

Gold Coaster Christian Tryhorn who organises the festival says the headline tier of artists is beyond anything they’ve done before for Mojo Burning.

“This year is going to be extra special,” Christian said. “We’re stoked on the lineup from top to bottom as always!”

“If you’re into modern blues, rock and stoner rock I don’t think you’ll find a better value-for-money one day festival option in the country,” he said.

And he could be onto something there, because tickets are only $50 for the Brisbane festival with a bunch of sideshows also rolling out.

As well as Wolfmother and Jeff Martin, well-loved Melbourne rockers The Chery Dolls will make the trek north, joined by stoner rock demons A Basket of Mammoths. Le Suits will deliver a prog-brain explosion and local rock favourites Port Royal and Iron Eye are also on the bill.

Mojo Burning organisers also held a band competition in Brisbane and the Gold Coast to find the best live acts to add to the lineup with those winners adding to the lineup.

If a mashup of 30 blues, rock and stoner riff lords delivering sounds over three stages sounds like your kinda thing, then Mojo Burning will deliver in spades. There are discounted tickets for 4ZZZ subscribers and as the early bird allocation sold out so quickly, you might want to hustle to secure your berth front and centre.
