A new Burleigh Tour package named “Heart of Gold Coast” has been launched.
Alicia Harvie and Leana Brown, owners of Kayak the Gold Coast, was inspired to create a fresh experience for visitors after attending a community workshop with David Zolwer, creative lead for the Commonwealth Games 2018 (GC2018) opening ceremony.
“Many things are in motion because of the upcoming Games in this city and people are starting to become aware that all our arts and cultural activities will be seen by the world,” says Alicia.
“This made myself and business partner Leana Brown think hard about is what is the heart of the Gold Coast that we want to share through our business and tours.”
The package brings together an aboriginal walkabout around Burleigh Headlands led by an Indigenous guide from Jellurgal Cultural Centre, a relaxing and fun Kayak from the headlands to David Fleay Wildlife Park, and entry into the Park to see all native Australian wildlife. All this comes together in one incredible half-day experience.
This partnership is not just another tour but a legacy of the Commonwealth Games before it has even happened.
The tour has launched in time for the GC2018 and fosters environmental and cultural understanding, appreciation for and conservation of nature.
