New music: Julia Rose launches ‘Get on Through’ ahead of Soundlounge gig

A bevy of musical heavyweights are set to captivate fans of contemporary folk, funk and soul at the Soundlounge, Currumbin on Friday 29 September.

Julia Rose will launch her brand new single ‘Get on Through’ serving up a delicious appetiser for audiences to sample a taste of the raw grit and journey to the heart that will be found in her long-awaited debut album due for release in early 2018. Having reformulated the band line-up, the combination of each musician’s style and feel has given birth to a fresh and new sound for Julia Rose and the result is nothing short of intoxicating, both in the depth of the lyrics and the musicality through which they’re delivered.

Brisbane band My Nightingale will launch their debut EP ‘Folk Tales’ as part of their first national tour. Expect groovy folk rhythms, soul-soothing tunes with luscious vocal harmonies, and layers of beautiful strings. You can have a listen here. Lead singer and songwriter Elly Hoyt has penned some captivating and mysterious songs that explore the themes that run through life’s experience. The underlying message is one of hope. “I wanted to create something that is honest and raw and that doesn’t just speak from the surface, it’s from a soul level.” says Hoyt. “The process has been so much fun but also very scary. Playing original music, having something to really say and believe in takes guts.”
