NEW MUSIC PREMIERE: Miss Lucy makes waves with ‘Ocean’

Miss Lucy returns with another sonically lush and vibrant synth track, ‘Ocean’, due to be released 25 June. Here’s your sneak peek.

Miss Lucy began as the musical project of Gold Coast based multi-instrumentalist and producer, Blair Condon. After some stints writing and touring with other bands, he decided to try a one-man project to push his comfort zone and explore sounds outside of previous projects. Following the success of Miss Lucy’s debut single ‘All In A Day’, Miss Lucy teamed up with iconic Gold Coast band IVEY to remix the track into a house-esque tune.

Miss Lucy’s sophomore single ‘Ocean’ is a thoughtful, synth-based pop number with a sweet vintage feel.

Blair explains, “Ocean came from three chords on a synthesiser and for no particular reason, the word ocean came to mind when I was writing to what turned into the chorus’ chords. After a few rough versions of the lyrics I settled on ‘you are an ocean’ which made me reflect about my relationship at the time and how I never quite dived into it properly”.

Recording and mixing with Konstantin Kersting at his personal studio in Brisbane, Blair says “I found it pretty relaxed especially being the second time around with Kon. Although, I hadn’t quite finished it like I had done with All In A Day, so a little stressful coming into it but Kon is such a pro and makes you feel like it’ll all pan out.”

With influences such as Frank Ocean, Stevie Wonder, Tame Impala and Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Miss Lucy is already making waves with rich, harmonious tones and melodies that make you want to boogie, accompanied with purposeful lyrics. Get your first listen of ‘Ocean’ below.
