Gold Coast surf-country rockers (yes, it’s a thing) The Shambolics have just dropped their second banger, titled ‘Don’t You Want A Bit More’, a lyrical punk follow up to 2018’s ‘A Life Thing.’
‘Don’t You Want A Bit More’ is the single from the crew’s upcoming debut album ‘Be Careful What You Wish For’, which The Shambolics recorded at Wild Mountain studios with producer Jamie Trevaskis (The Wilson Pickers), and it serves up the group’s laid back, Tally-Valley-meets-New-York-in-75 vibe on a plate with lyrics like “You and your god, are you sure? You and your life, don’t you want a bit more?”
The local four piece (Matt, Brad, Sam and Asho), like to think of themselves as a collective welcoming anyone to join in celebrating the true joy of music, warts and all. Asho and Sam are long-standing members of the Brisbane punk rock community from bands like Spillage and Way Cool Jnr, while Matt and Brad are first-timers. But they all share a the same mad musical passion.
The Shambolics have already shared the stage with Australian legends such as You Am I, Troy Cassar Daly and Screamfeeder, and will be touring their debut album ‘Be Careful What You Wish For’ on the east coast this September and October.
Catch The Shambolics + Tim & Skye + Richard Johnston at the album launch at The Junk Bar in Brisbane on 20 September, at Mo’s Desert Clubhouse on the Gold Coast on 11 October, alongside guests The Daisycutters, and finally at Sunshine Coast’s The Bison Bar on 20 October, with Sue-Anne Stewart. The album will be available from 20 September through all the usual channels.
