One of the Gold Coast’s rising stars Casey Barnes will jet over to California this June. He’s just scored a much-coveted performance slot at one of the USA’s major music festivals.
He’ll perform alongside American country music stars like Lady Antebellum, The Band Perry and Kip Moore at Country Summer Festival which runs 3 – 5 June in Santa Rosa, California.
Casey was selected by a judging panel to compete against ten other finalists in the Fender Contender Challenge, which was then decided by public vote. He was the only Australian act to make the cut and the grand prize was the opportunity to travel to California and join the stellar lineup.
This festival takes place north of San Francisco in Sonoma County and attracts over 17,000 music fans from across the nation every year. Casey performs Friday 3 June.
‘I’m absolutely blown away,” Casey said at the news. “This is just a dream come true and I want to sincerely thank everyone that has got behind this amazing opportunity over the last few weeks.”
“I’m excited beyond words to be heading over and flying the Aussie flag,” Casey Barnes said.
Following his return from California, Casey will perform at Broadbeach Country Music Festival, 18 and 19 June.
Nice work Casey. And nice work Gold Coasters who helped get him over the line.
