In 2019, World Kindness Day will again recognise those who are kind in our community and those who recognise that kindness.
On 13 November each year World Kindness Day is celebrated and on the Gold Coast – the first city to be acknowledged as a “World Kindness City” by the World Kindness Movement – and nominations always flow in as the community rallies to encourage generosity, compassion and intentional acts of kindness and love that are common amongst residents.
Compassionate Gold Coast is proud to be associated with the World Kindness Day acknowledgements and considers the program an integral part of their work in the Gold Coast community and in line with their aspirations that Australia would be recognised as ‘A Continent for Compassion’, in 2021.
“Over the past 6 years or so, we’ve had people from all cultural backgrounds and many different walks of life get involved in World Kindness Day,” said Councillor Glenn Tozer, Gold Coast’s appointed World Kindness and Compassion Ambassador. “What has been common has been a willingness to help their neighbour, demonstrating a generosity of spirit and compassion that is actually really common amongst Gold Coasters.”
Residents can nominate acts of kindness or kind people or organisations until 10 am on 11 November 2019 by sending an email to firstname.lastname@example.org or by posting a written nomination to PO Box 5042, GCMC 9729.
Nominations must include the name of both the nominator and the person or organisation being nominated, as well as a description of the circumstances around the act of kindness.
