QMusic Connect to run free workshops for music industry

Popular music industry development program, QMusic Connect is back on the road this June to deliver 23 live workshops throughout Queensland, including Brisbane, Cairns, Gold Coast,
Ipswich, Sunshine Coast, Toowoomba and Townsville.

The free program empowers musicians, artist managers and music workers to build a sustainable career in music with knowledge, advice and experience shared by panels of industry experts on a range of topics from starting out, songwriting and streaming to the release cycle, marketing and more.

Helping over 1500 artists find their feet in the music industry in the last five years, including Greta Stanley, Gold Coast’s DVNA (pictured) and Cloe Terare, QMusic Program Manager, Dom Miller says how important it is to provide positive pathways for people to progress in the industry.

“The music industry can be tough to navigate, so being able to connect with and learn from industry leaders like past speakers Stu McCullough, who manages The Jungle Giants and Confidence Man, Jaguar Jonze and the team from GYROSTREAM, is a really great opportunity to set yourself up for success.

“We’ve seen so many great outcomes over the years with participants going on to take great strides in their career, from showcasing at BIGSOUND and winning awards to signing publishing deals and playing on Australia’s most coveted stages,” he said.

Miller said that participants also have the potentially career-changing opportunity for their music to be listened to by top songwriters and A&R representatives from publishers and record labels.
“Artists are invited to submit a track, with a selection reviewed live by the experts during each ‘It’s All About The Music’ panel, which is not only extremely valuable for the artist, but gives all participants insight into what different parts of the industry look for in a song.

“And, you never know, your song could be picked up in the process!”

Delivered weekly throughout June and into July, musicians, managers and music industry workers are invited to pick and choose the topics of most interest, or join all for a full dive into navigating the music industry.

All participants are in the running to win one of two GYROstream PR, distribution and playlist pitching packages worth $1400 each.

Places are strictly limited and registration is essential at qmusic.com.au/QMusic-Connect.
