Radio Birdman are going to start it up at The Triffid

Better get your tickets as fast as a 455SD, as this will be another sell out gig for Australia’s iconic, hard, fast, take-no-prisoners rock ‘n’ roll band. If you have not seen Radio Birdman, you may just need to, to see what all the fuss is about.

Rob Younger, Deniz Tek, and Pip Hoyke are the only players that remain from the original line up from the band’s first two albums. Deniz Tek, the surgeon (who actually is a trauma ward surgeon and an ex- Navy jet fighter crewman), is playing at a new level, somehow maturing like a fine wine with age. Rob Younger is still the vocal master with angst in his soul, and the keyboards of Pip Hoyle (Dr Phillip Hoyle when not on stage) adds that difference in sound that is Radio Birdman. The current line-up has been established for quite a few years now and they are incredible live. Bass player Jim Dickson is a rock ‘n’ roll soldier and ex-member of the New Christs, The Passengers and many more over the decades. Another New Christ’s member Dave Kettely is solid on guitar, and drummer Nik Reith who has played in The Celibate Rifles, Hoodoo Gurus, Tumbleweed, and the New Christs, fits in seamlessly.

Controversy has been the constant companion of the band throughout the decades as was seen warts and all in their documentary ‘Descent Into the Maelstrom’, but you really want to see the real thing. Get your tickets from Better be quick though, cause they’re gonna disappear faster than a Deniz Tek lead break.
