REVIEW: Trainwreck 1979 | Death from Above 1979

The genres of dance and punk were never really associated with one another until MSTRKRFT’s bassist JFK and drummer Sebastian Grainger joined forces in 2002 to unite the two genres. They become Death From Above 1979.

Their last release, You’re A Woman, I’m A Machine, has been described as genre-defining, however with a ten year departure since the aforementioned album, it has left many to wonder what would be said of their latest piece entitled The Physical World?

With the release of Trainwreck 1979 the album’s first single, such a question is answered and is sure to leave listeners thirsty for everything else the album has in store.

Trainwreck 1979 sends listeners into a powerful anthemic bass line, and a solid body of throbbing drums, stitched together with Grainger’s powerful vocals. The track is a true testament to what made their previous body of works such great successes. The album is set for release on 9 September and has been produced by Oasis/Nine Inch Nails producer Dave Sardy.
