This February, audiences all around the country will be taken on a poetic journey back to the 70s as legendary sugar man Rodriguez performs his iconic blend of folk and psychedelic rock.
“Close your eyes and you might as well be listening to the young man who recorded Cold Fact nearly five decades ago.” – Sydney Morning Herald.
The acclaimed singer songwriter known for hits such as ‘Sugarman’ ‘I Wonder’ and ‘Cause’ has had strong ties to Australia since the 70s where his first album, ‘Cold Fact’ certified five times platinum while his second ‘Coming from Reality’ peaked at number 24 on the ARIA charts.
“Australian audiences hold a very special place in my heart, so I can’t wait to return down under in 2019.” – Rodriguez.
Rodriguez will be playing six headline shows across the country and will be here in Queensland for an extraordinary A Day on the Green event where he will be joined by Xavier Rudd, Busby Marou, Pierce Brothers and triple j unearthed NIMA winner Alice Skye.
Rodriguez started receiving the worldwide attention he deserved when the oscar award winning film ‘Searching for Sugarman.’ was released. The film tells the story of two South African journalists who go on the search to find out what happened to the man who inspired a nation, who was an icon of an era, selling more albums than Elvis! They found him working on construction sites in Detroit with no phone and no idea of his fame in South Africa.
Now, he is selling out shows all over the US, Europe, and the UK and is being called to the worlds most renowned festivals such as Glastonbury and Coachella.
A Day on the Green comes to Sirromet Winery, Mt Cotton 9 February, 2019. Tickets here.
