Summertime Sessions in the Village goes from strength to strength.
Despite battling wet weather (it is the summertime sessions, after all), the seasonal event has consistently pulled strong crowds, fantastic media support and can boast one of the best lineups of local talent across a single Gold Coast event.
Tonight is no different, with Mitch King and Essie Thomas featuring on the lineup.
Essie Thomas has been performing since age eleven and has Woodford, The Dreaming, Port Fairy and Splendour feathers in her cap. She mixes soulful vocals with a rootsy blues twist. She just crowdfunded $10,000 to record a new album too.
Mitch King is a veritable one-man band, stretching boundaries and combining guitar, voice, harmonica, stomp box and tambourine. And he’s from Mt Tamborine too. Starting to as a street performer, he’s also played Gympie Muster and Byron Bluesfest and 500 other shows.
In case you’re wondering what Summertime Sessions is all about, watch this beautiful clip of the Hussy Hicks performing at last week’s event, which also featured Julia Rose.
