Finally the highly anticipated first single from Australian band The Jezabels sophomore album has arrived, and The End is everything we hoped for. Perfectly showcasing lead vocalist Hayley Mary’s haunting voice The End is a new and familiar track. While it brings everything we love about the four-piece from their 2011 album Prisoner, the song’s moody and blissful melody has a higher level of polish.
The End is a seductive introduction to their upcoming album, The Brink, which is due in stores 31 January.
Escaping to their new home in London the album was recorded with producer Dan Grech-Marguerat who has worked with artists such as Lana del Rey and The Kooks. This first song, The End mixes thumping beats with resonating vocals to tell a tale of endings becoming new beginnings, which leaves the listener awash with hope.
The Jezabels are currently on tour opening for Depeche Mode for a run of UK arena shows this November, and will wrap up the year with a handful of supports for American alt rock legends The Pixies through the UK.
The Jezabels next be in Australia for St Jerome’s Laneway Festival 2014. It seems this is just the beginning for The End.
