Tognetti and Osborne: a classical ripsnorter

It’s not very often that you hear classical music reviews describing a ‘ripsnorter of a performance’, but that’s exactly how Scottish pianist Steven Osborne’s recent concerts with the Australian Chamber Orchestra have been reported.

No surprises then when the Orchestra’s director and lead violin Richard Tognetti chose him to partner in a rare and intimate recital about to hit the Gold Coast. The two will perform three violin sonatas, Prokofiev’s virtuosic and lyrical showpiece, Debussy’s powerful last ever completed work and the final and most reflective of Beethoven’s violin sonatas.

The recital will take place on Friday 22 August from 7.30pm. Various ticket prices are available, but the VIP table of four for $195 which includes a bottle of wine, cheese platter and wait service sounds like a great way to soak up some culture. Get tickets and more information at
