You know we are big fans of Gold Coast music. We wouldn’t want to blow our own trumpet, but we might be the biggest fans of local music you know. We love to support indie musicians from the Gold Coast who have gigs here or who are touring outside of the city.
But we also know that without a steady stream of touring acts, we’re not really performing as a live music destination.
So, we’re pretty excited about some of the acts on the horizon for Gold Coast venues.
Kicking off the new year of music will be a heap of artists playing Helensvale for new year’s eve. As part of Midnight Trip, the legends at NightQuarter have brought together some of the best talent from SEQ with The Delta Riggs headlining.
But that really is just the beginning of an awesome few months of high quality touring acts stopping in to Gold Coast venues. Mat McHugh, Tijuana Cartel, Dinosaur Jr, Kingswood, Sublime with Rome, Ball Park Music, Thirsty Merc, The Veronicas, British India, The Gooch Palms, The Living End, Sunnyboys, Celibate Rifles also have shows here.

Epic Soundlounge lineup for January
Mat McHugh is at Soundlounge Currumbin on Friday 6 January exactly one week before Karl S Williams makes a much-anticipated homecoming on Friday 13 January. Soundlounge won Gold Coast music venue of the year in the Gold Coast Music Awards’ first year and Karl S Williams took out Artist of the Year. Just saying. To top off an awesome month at the Soundlounge, Tijuana Cartel are also there – fresh from their summer festival run on 28 January. Check out tickets for all three gigs.
Dinosaur Jr are in town
Dinosaur Jr, the lords of loud, fuzz guitar, return to the Gold Coast on Saturday 14 January, stopping in at Miami Shark Bar. This will be a big gig and we strongly recommend you sort tickets now.
OzFest is massive aaaaaaand there are alternatives
Ball Park Music, British India, Urthboy and Hockey Dad hit Miami Shark Bar for OzFest on 28 January, and if you miss out on tickets (which is possible as early birds have already sold out), you can choose between Tijuana Cartel at Soundlounge Currumbin or Thirsty Merc at Parkwood Tavern (which is right on the light rail line in case you haven’t been paying attention) on the same night.
Rufus is at NightQuarter
Rufus hits NightQuarter on Friday 20 January and then two weeks later, Sunnyboys are there with The Celibate Rifles and Ed Keupper with Mark Dawson.
Miami venues take things up a notch
The Gooch Palms are at Miami Shark Bar on Saturday 4 February, bringing a slightly different vibe to Twelve Foot Ninja who are at the same venue on Thursday 16 February and Psychedelic Porn Crumpets (best band name ever?) on Saturday 29 April.
Choirboys, Sublime, Kingwood, The Living End
Choirboys are at Parkwood Tavern on 24 February, Sublime with Rome is at Miami Marketta on Sunday 5 March, Kingwood is there on 6 April and The Living End are at NightQuarter on Saturday 18 March.
And… The Veronicas
The Veronicas will also hit the Gold Coast as headliners for Surfers Paradise LIVE, right on the beach on Friday 28 April which is also where Gold Coast Music Awards takes place the night prior.
Go Gold Coast.
