Speaking truth to those in power

Who has power over you? If you had a chance to tell them what you thought, what would you say?

That’s exactly what eighteen Gold Coasters will have the chance to do during Festival 2018. People of all ages, beliefs and backgrounds will answer the question ‘who has power over you and what do you want to say to them?’

The project builds on anti-war pacifism and the concept of speaking truth to power. It’s widely accepted to be about saying something to those in authority or a position of trust who might not want to hear that truth.

Siblings, politicians, lovers, power-brokers, trainers, leaders, bankers and bosses could all be in the line of truth as everyday people have a chance to tell speak about what has power over them as part of Bleach* Festival and Festival 2018.

The concept has been created by Jeremy Goldstein, a multi award-winning creative producer and writer whose work has been described as an “evocative theatrical wonderland.” In 2012 Jeremy was named in Time Out as among the 100 most influential people in UK culture for ‘proving political theatre can be fun and outrageous’.
