They’re promising something for everyone, and when you look at the lineup, you can’t help but think they’ve totally delivered.
I’m talking about Bello Winter Festival, of course. Based on similar concepts to Mullum Music Festival and activating local spaces and places – it’s a sure-fire recipe for community-building (albeit a little cooler than its northern November sister).
Willie Watson (USA) leads the lineup which also includes Jeff Lang and Gold Coasters Tijuana Cartel, Bobby Alu, STAV (pictured) and Allensworth (via the USA). Kylie Auldist, L-Fresh the Lion, Mojo Juju, Jaaleekaay, Joshua Hedley, Jazz Party, Bullhorn, Tora, Saraha Beck and Yirrmal also get a guernsey.
The event’s accompany Learning Festival includes meditation, renewalbe workshops, nature experiences, yoga, eco-art, permaculture, bug search, music workshops and more.
Bellingen is half way between Brisbane and Sydney and just 30 minutes from Coffs Harbour, but it sits in some of the most beautiful landscape you could imagine. Right on the bands of the Bellinger River with small cottages lining the watercourse and a host of awesome, cozy, accommodation options, it’s well worth the trip. For those on a budget, camping is also available at nearby Bellingen Showgrounds for the duration of the festival.
If you choose that option, read this next sentence very carefully. TAKE A BEANIE.
Otherwise you’ll be left with no option than to dance your socks off over the four-day event, which is probably a good idea no matter where you sleep.
Bello Winter Music Festival takes place 7 – 10 July in Bellingen, NSW. More at bellowintermusic.com.
