What’s ON: ‘NOMA: My Perfect Storm’

Gold Coast Arts Centre, Bundall on Monday 8th Feb, 7pm $25; $20 Seniors/Members

If you have a food bucket list, then chances are that NOMA Restaurant, Copenhagen, is on it. René Redzepi’s locavore-concept eatery is one of the most influential restaurants of this century, placed at the top of The S. Pellegrino and Acqua Panna World’s 50 Best Restaurants list for the past five years. Joyful, we heard that NOMA was coming to Sydney! But with seats at Noma’s brief popup in Sydney sold out within ten minutes at a pre-paid price of $485 each, our chance of a Noma experience looked dim.

Meanwhile, one of our Gold Coast chefs, Parashuram Pathak, Executive Chef of the Intercontinental Sanctuary Cove Resort, had been fulfilling one of his own lifelong dreams: to spend time in the kitchen at Noma as chef. Inspired by his time at Noma, Para held a dinner at The Fireplace Restaurant upon his return, applying techniques learned while cooking with René Redzepi to local ingredients. Read more about the dinner here.

Now it’s your chance to see what goes on behind the scenes of NOMA, with the Queensland premiere of NOMA: My Perfect Storm, a documentary about the world’s most celebrated restaurant, being shown at Gold Coast Arts Centre, Bundall on 8th Feb, followed by Q & A with Chef Ben Devlin (Esquire; Paper Daisy, Cabarita).

“Noma: My Perfect Storm is a creative journey into the unique mind of René Redzepi. How did Redzepi manage to revolutionize the entire world of gastronomy, inventing the alphabet and vocabulary that would infuse newfound pedigree to Nordic cuisine and establish a new edible world while radically changing the image of the modern chef?”

Tickets are $25, available from here.
